A huge transfer rumour was announced today as multiple media outlets reported that Georginio Wijnaldum is now set to join Paris-Saint Germain. For months now, the Dutch star has been linked with Barcelona, seeming almost certain that he would go to the Camp Nou. However, over the course of a few days, it seems that the Parisians have hijacked the deal and turned Wijnaldum’s head to Paris. A huge blow to Barcelona!

According to reports by the likes of Fabrizio Romano, PSG have offered Wijnaldum a contract paying him double the salary that Barcelona was offering. This seems to have turned his eye towards the Parisian giants, also giving him the opportunity to link up with the superstars Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

Barcelona were so close to signing Wijnaldum that they were even ready to have his medicals done while he was on international duty with Netherlands. But after reports that they are refusing to increase Wijnaludm’s salary on the proposed contract, it seems that the move to Barcelona is now highly unlikely. A huge hit to Barcelona and manager Ronald Koeman who is very fond of his former player.
