Great news for Barcelona fans, it appears Lionel Messi is set to stay at Barcelona! After the 2019-20 season, it was no secret that Messi was looking for a way out of the club after their horrendous season. However, despite the rumours, Messi stayed on for another season, reportedly because he didn’t want to get into legal troubles with the club. But now, it seems he has faith in the club again and is ready to continue playing for the Blaugrana.

Fabrizio Romano reported earlier today that Barcelona and Messi were close to a new contract that would keep him at the Camp Nou until June 2023. Romano reported that the Barcelona board is very pleased with the proceedings with Messi and his father about the new contract.

To make matters even better, earlier in the week Messi’s close friend Sergio Aguero officially joined the club. The Manchester City legend joins the club on a free transfer. Georginio Wijnaldum and Memphis Depay are also rumoured to be very close to joining Barcelona. Such signings are reportedly pleasing to Messi and appear to be good signs for the Argentine.

So now, the football world waits to see the outcome of the Messi contract saga. And if he doesn’t stay at Barcelona, this summer will be one to remember.
