Barcelona seems to have a new star in Georginio Wijnaldum as the Sunday Times reported that the Liverpool midfielder had agreed to join the Blaugrana after the end of this season. It is reported that he has signed a pre-contract with Barcelona and is set to join them on a free, with his Liverpool contract ending this summer. It was widely known that Wijnaldum was wanted by Barca manager Ronald Koeman, especially as Wijnaldum worked with Koeman previously on the Netherlands international team. Koeman will be very pleased with this signing since Wijnaldum can help strengthen Barca's midfield. Overall, a great first signing by new president Joan Laporta and everyone will be looking forward to Wijnaldum's impact.

Most Barca fans will know Wijnaldum as the player who scored twice against Barcelona in their humiliating 4-0 loss to Liverpool in the 2018-19 Champions League season which saw Barcelona exit in the semi finals. That memory no doubtedly brings back bad memories for Barcelona fans and players but now, the man who caused their downfall once is on their team. Now, the footballing world will simply have to wait a bit to see how Wijnaldum pairs up with the likes of Frenkie de Jong and Sergio Busquets.
