Raphael Varane has officially said his goodbyes at Real Madrid following his transfer to Manchester United. Following 10 seasons at the Bernabeu and after winning every trophy available at the club, the French star bids farewell for a new journey in the Premier League. This move comes after months of speculation over Varane’s future at Madrid, with numerous reports stating that his wish was to move to England. A huge but predicted loss for Real Madrid!

The French star moved to Old Trafford for a fee of only £41m, one of the steals of the summer. The star is still in his prime, making it even more incredible that United were able to grab him for such a low price. He is set to make a new partnership with United captain Harry Maguire, with the two looking to finally get United in the running for the Premier League title. Varane joins a Manchester United team that recently finished second in the league and has had an expensive summer, bringing in Jadon Sancho as well from Borussia Dortmund.

Varane will bring over not just incredible defensive abilities but also invaluable experience as a winner. The four time Champions League winner will bring a winning mentality to a team not very familiar with trophies yet. And with his age, he will surely be an asset for years to come at Old Trafford. Overall, great business by Manchester United and now we see whether they can finally get that Premier League title for the first time since 2013.
